Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 23 September 2026
1. Introduction and acceptance of these Terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply when you use the Beam website and application or buy any of our digital products or subscriptions. By creating an account, making a purchase or otherwise using Beam, you confirm that you accept these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use Beam.
If you are under 18, you should use Beam with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian, and any purchase should be made by that parent or guardian.
2. About Beam
Beam is an educational technology business based in Malta that provides digital study and revision resources for students.
VAT number: 31479701
Contact email: info.beamedu@gmail.com
3. Products and services
Beam provides digital educational products and services only. These include:
- the Beam flashcard application;
- digital study and revision resources available through the application;
- subscription plans that give access to premium features and content.
We do not sell physical products. Everything we provide is delivered digitally through the application. If we ever offer physical products, separate delivery and returns terms will be published for them.
Our content is designed to support students' own revision. Beam is a study aid and we cannot guarantee any particular exam result or grade.
4. Creating and using an account
To use Beam you need an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login details private.
You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Accounts are for personal, individual use — please do not share your account or login details with others.
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing info.beamedu@gmail.com.
5. Prices and payments
Prices are shown on our website and in the application before you complete your purchase. Applicable VAT is included where it applies.
Payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
You must be authorised to use the payment method you provide. If a payment fails, access to paid features may be suspended until payment is completed.
We may change our prices from time to time. Any price change to an existing subscription will be communicated to you in advance and will apply from your next renewal, so you can cancel before it takes effect.
6. Digital products and access
Access to digital content is granted immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible, after your purchase is confirmed.
You receive a personal, non-transferable right to use our content for your own study. You may not copy, resell, publish, distribute or share our content, or make it available to anyone else.
To use Beam you need a suitable device and an internet connection. These are your responsibility.
7. Subscriptions and automatic renewals
Subscriptions are offered on a recurring basis (for example monthly or yearly, as shown at checkout).
Unless you cancel, your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period and the payment method on file is charged the then-current price for the same period.
If a free trial is offered, the subscription starts and the first payment is taken automatically when the trial ends, unless you cancel before that.
You can cancel at any time through your billing settings or by emailing info.beamedu@gmail.com. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
8. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel a subscription at any time to prevent future charges, as described above.
Because our products are digital content delivered immediately, refunds after access has been given are limited — see section 9 on the right of withdrawal.
Beyond your statutory rights, we will always look at refund requests fairly. If something was charged in error, or a technical problem on our side meant you could not use what you paid for, contact us at info.beamedu@gmail.com and we will put it right.
You are also entitled to a remedy if our digital content is faulty or does not match its description, in line with Maltese and EU consumer law.
9. Your right of withdrawal (14 days) and digital content
As a consumer buying online in the EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase without giving a reason.
However, for digital content supplied immediately, the law allows this right to end once supply has started, provided you have given your prior express consent and acknowledged that you lose the right of withdrawal.
For this reason, when you buy access to Beam's digital content you are asked to confirm at checkout that:
- you expressly request immediate access to the digital content; and
- you acknowledge that, once access begins, you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal.
If you have not yet started using the digital content within the 14-day period, you may still withdraw by emailing info.beamedu@gmail.com, and we will refund you.
Nothing here removes your statutory rights if the content is faulty or not as described.
10. Acceptable use of the application
When using Beam, please do not:
- copy, scrape, record or redistribute our content;
- share your account or resell access;
- upload unlawful, offensive or infringing material;
- attempt to interfere with, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the application;
- use the application for anything unlawful.
If these rules are seriously or repeatedly broken, we may suspend or close the account. Where we do so unfairly, your statutory rights still apply.
11. Application availability
We work to keep Beam available and working properly, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, or issues outside our control may cause temporary interruptions.
If a paid service is unavailable for a significant period, contact us and we will offer an appropriate remedy.
12. Changes to products or services
We may improve, update or change our content and features — for example to reflect syllabus updates or to add new material.
We will not make changes that substantially reduce what you have paid for during your current subscription period without telling you. If we do, you may cancel and, where appropriate, receive a proportionate refund for the unused part of your subscription.
13. Limitation of liability
Beam is a study aid. We are not responsible for exam results, grades or academic outcomes.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability in connection with a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your mandatory rights as a consumer.
14. Complaints and customer support
If something is wrong, please contact us first — most issues are solved quickly.
Support and complaints: info.beamedu@gmail.com
We aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and to resolve them fairly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) or use the EU consumer support channels available to you.
15. Governing law and your consumer rights
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta, and disputes may be brought before the competent Maltese courts.
Your statutory consumer rights under Maltese and EU law are not affected by these Terms. If any part of these Terms conflicts with those rights, your statutory rights prevail.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example to reflect changes in our services or the law. The updated version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
If a change materially affects an active subscription, we will notify subscribers in advance so they can cancel before it takes effect.
17. Contact information
